For release August 6, 2013

United Way’s Fifth Annual Oktoberfest set for September 27

Fundraiser launches 2013 campaign and marks the United Way 80th Anniversary

The Greenwich United Way’s fifth annual “Oktoberfest” fundraiser is set for September 27th at Stamford’s Loading Dock at 7 p.m. The festivities, including dinner, dancing, and more, will take place in an Alpine village setting with décor provided by Carolyn Dempsey Design.  Last year almost 300 supporters, sponsors and guests participated in this exuberant start to the Campaign Year. Sponsors for this year’s Oktoberfest include Greenwich Hospital, Fieldpoint Private, and Phoenix Beverages.

The evening will feature German-inspired foods prepared by On the Marc, regional beers and wines, music and dancing, friendly competition in the game room, and a silent auction.  The Oktoberfest Committee is being led by Shannon Dionis and Rhiannon Forlini, both veterans of recent Oktoberfest successes. Go to http://store.unitedway-greenwich.com/oktoberfest.html for tickets.

Founded in 1933 at the Community Chest and Council, Greenwich United Way is celebrating 80 years of targeting needs, mobilizing communities, and changing lives.  In addition to its work identifying and meeting health and human service needs, it is the largest non-governmental source of funding for local health and human service programs.

Giving to the annual community-wide fundraising campaign is the most effective and efficient way to support critically needed local services that strengthen children and families, support seniors, foster self-sufficiency, and assist individuals in crisis.
