Fifth Annual Oktoberfest launches United Way’s 80th Community Campaign

Greenwich United Way Oktoberfest revelers made merry September 27th at the Loading Dock, getting the United Way’s 80th Community-wide Campaign off to a roaring start at the same time.  Over three hundred attendees packed the space, enjoying Bavarian cuisine prepared by On the Marc, regional beers and wines, music, dancing and games, and an online auction.  This fifth annual fall fundraiser had Greenwich Hospital as its Presenting Sponsor; the Event Sponsor was Fieldpoint Private.  View Oktoberfest photos.

The Oktoberfest committee was chaired by Sharon Dionnis and Rhiannon Forlini; Steph Cowie served as Board liaison for the event and the Biergarten décor was provided by Carolyn Dempsey Designs.  During dinner United Way president Stuart Adelberg thanked the ballroom-full of supporters, sponsors, and underwriters whose contributions have put a firm foundation under this year’s fundraising campaign.  As the United Way enters its 80th year serving the citizens of Greenwich, he reminded them of the good their contributions deliver to some of our neediest neighbors.

Throughout its history, Greenwich United Way has been committed to targeting needs, mobilizing communities, and changing lives.  In addition to its work identifying and meeting health and human service needs, it is the largest non-governmental source of funding for local health and human service programs.

Gifts to the fundraising campaign are the most effective and efficient way to support critically needed local services that strengthen children and families, support seniors, foster self-sufficiency, and assist individuals in crisis.   For information about how to contribute the United Way and for more about Oktoberfest, go to www.unitedway-greenwich.org or phone 203-869-2221.
