GREENWICH UNITED WAY
Founded in 1933 as the Community Chest and Council, this nonprofit organization identifies and responds to the health and human service needs of the community. They raise funds and provide financial support to critical programs offered by non-profit agencies. Greenwich United Way helps children and youth, strengthens families and the community at large, assists persons in crisis, promotes health and wellness, fosters self-sufficiency, and improves the lives of seniors. It also provides time-limited grants addressing critical issues. The United Way Planning Council is instrumental in assessing local services, identifying changing needs, and working collaboratively to initiate practical solutions to meet these needs. In 2012, Greenwich United Way and Community Answers merged. The relationship allows both organizations do what they do best, even better.
