Begun in 1943, and later named after Dr. Joyce Yerwood, the first black female doctor in Connecticut, this resource center provides education and personal development opportunities to Stamford’s diverse community. The Boys and Girls Club of Stamford now operates the programs.
Main branch of the Greenwich public library system. Other Branches BYRAM SHUBERT, COS COB AND PERROT MEMORIAL. Collections include fiction, nonfiction, large print books, downloadable library, general reference, business services, health information, CDs, DVDs, traditional and streaming audio, audio books, foreign language materials, travel resources, local history collection, and lending art. Copy machines are available.
Branch of the Greenwich Library system. Offers computers and wireless throughout the building. A Community room displays art work throughout most of the year and the room is available for local meetings and programs.
Built in 1916, this community service agency offers athletic, educational, and recreational programs for youth, teens, adults, and seniors. The building is on the National Historic Register. It is a United Way agency.
Begun in 1908 as the Greenwich Boys’ Club, the original clubhouse was built in 1939. Girls were welcomed in 1985, and extensive renovations completed in 2006. This nonprofit organization’s mission is to inspire and enable all young people (ages 6-18), especially those from disadvantaged circumstances, to realize their full potential as productive, responsible and caring citizens. Public high school, grades 9-12. The high school is divided into five houses Bella, Clark, Folsom, Sheldon, and Cantor House (named for Phyllis Cantor- housemaster 1980-92). One of the largest high schools in the state, with about 2,687 students. Click here for School Directory.
An independent, nonprofit center for teens which offers social, recreational, and educational programs and events on weekend evenings and occasionally on weekdays. Founded in 1993, it is open to Greenwich students and residents, the mission of The GTC is to provide teens with a safe environment in which to connect and socialize with their peers.
Private veterans club. They hold monthly meetings and sponsor social activities. Members organize and participate in patriotic observances such as placing flags on veterans’ grave sites in Greenwich.
